The Lodge at Sonoma Resort, Autograph Collection

I stayed at the Lodge over the weekend to attend my Niece’s wedding as many of the other wedding party did and had a wonderful time. The grounds , with the lovely pool, functional gym and the restaurant with the delicious breakfast all made this stay exceptional. The wine tastings in the afternoon were a nice touch and the pre wedding reception at the restaurant was very well arranged. I stayed in a King Cottage suite and it was nicely appointed with a useful fireplace for the chilly evenings and only wished the windows were a bit larger to enjoy the view and to have more natural light in the room but did enjoy the view from my outside terrace. House keeping was a bit more erratic as twice I came back to an unmade room and had to notify the front desk that quickly resolved the issue. Overall a great stay and looking forward to staying there again soon.

Had to write this review to specifically highlight how special and healing our experience was made by Kendall Smith, the Front Office Manager, as well as every other team member we met, including John, the Guest Relations Manager. We originally had a trip planned for The Lodge a few days later already, but booked a last minute additional trip over the weekend after learning of some extremely heartbreaking personal news - a very late stage abortion for my wife after an extremely poor fetal MRI and ultrasound diagnosis due to a very rare genetic disorder. I let the staff know about the situation just as a heads up in the Marriott app if we appeared unusually upset or sad, and Kendall specifically made sure to immediately go above and beyond for us to make sure every part of the trip was as enjoyable and healing as possible for us. She upgraded us to a secluded cottage suite where we were able to relax in solitude, and when we arrived, had written us an incredibly sweet and thoughtful card and also left us a beautiful spread of chocolates, sparkling waters, and a fruit basket. When we checked in, she was there to greet us personally and made it clear that if we needed anything at all, just to let her know and she'd make sure anything that could make our stay better would be provided. She absolutely followed through on that, and despite this being a resort property where late checkout isn't guaranteed even for our Platinum Elite status, the team made sure to make it possible for us which was extremely appreciated. The last day, when we went to swap out our keys for the late checkout, John, the Guest Relations Manager, similarly went out of his way to emphasize that it was a pleasure to have us stay there and that anything we needed, they were happy to assist with. We received the same level of care and compassion from literally every single other team member we met and interacted with, and this experience truly cemented the Lodge at Sonoma as one of our absolute favorite hotels in the entire world for taking such good care of us at such a difficult personal time. We'll be spreading the positive word about The Lodge to anyone we ever meet from here on out. Thank you again for everything Kendall and the entire team!

I attended a conference at the Lodge last week. Our experience from start to finish was wonderful. The food and service was exceptional, with a notable call out for Doris who was managing out conference space an meal services. We felt so well taken care of and also appreciate a visit from the resort manager to make sure everyhing was going well. Highly recommend for business or leisure.

Warm interactions with the staff. I would like to point out one specific team member Doris who assisted with our group during our meetings in the Lavender room. Doris was sweet, kind, attentive, helpful.

had the most incredible overall experience thanks to Kendall, Taylor, Punam & William. My now fiance Noah booked everything and I am still daydreaming about our days there at the pool, upgraded suite and restaurant. This will he one of my most cherished memories and truly is our happy place!!

This was our second time staying at this location, but the first time we were in a regular room - this time we were in a suite/cottage. I believe the first time this property also wasn't a part of the Autograph Collection. The grounds are gorgeous and well-kept - the lighting at night is a wonderful touch. Also loved the big oak tree area - magical at night. Overall, our stay was okay. I wouldn't return - and it's mainly because of the details. It's not a cheap property and I feel that a few improvements would go far. Room: relatively spacious - nice with a back patio area. But the patio had a dirt strip with only one semi-alive plant... The bathroom was large with a separate fan with timer - nice touch. We were given EXACTLY two sets of towels per person: a body towel, hand towel, and washcloth. Even the Excalibur has left us three sets in case a need arises... The soap dispenser and ironing board were broken in our room. They do provide neat little collapsible bike helmets for use. The room is...loud? Like it sounds kind of like someone is taking a shower 24/7? Maybe it's the AC? Not sure, but at least the AC kept up with the outside heat over 90. We were grateful to have a fridge to keep a few snacks cool. Service: overall okay. Each time we called the front desk (3 times), it rang for awhile then sounded like someone picked up and hung up. This was 3 separate times over the course of our 3-night stay and necessitated us going to the front desk in person. The shuttle only runs 2p-9:30p... Annoying when wine tasting and shopping open at 10-11a in town - we made it work by taking the 90 degree walk in. On the plus side, our shuttle drivers were awesome and friendly - they were quick and offered accurate time estimates for arrival. Despite being told we had a good chance for late checkout, we were only extended to noon - be aware you may not get late checkout despite Marriott status and/or Chase Edit benefits. Pool: be aware that this seems to be less of a couples getaway place and more about many parents taking their toddlers on a vacation. This means the pool is filled with children with waterwings/swim diapers and a lot of playtime. Kids are loud - I lasted maybe 5 minutes at the pool before retreating to my dirt-strip patio. There were times in the afternoon that seemed a bit more peaceful, but we were either headed to town or just getting back at those points. Gym: small, but manageable. Nice touches like Peloton bikes and free weights. There are two large machines that are a strange addition - lat pulldown and leg press. It was VERY hot in the gym despite both doors open on either side. The spacing for weights is a bit weird and makes it so one dude was taking up the entire weight area with the two benches scooted to the wall. Was very busy when I was there - had to switch treadmills because one was very noisy. Food: we ate at Benicia's twice and Wit & Wisdom once. Benicias was good - friendly service, but definitely neglectful o
