Strandhotel Margaretha

We only used the restaurant, which was tastefully decorated and very quiet. Excellent service from our waiter. Drinks were a little expensive by British standards, but the view is fabulous and worth a few extra €'s. Food was delicious and we'd definitely return. Gluten free food was easily available.

The location is amazing however the hotel is not. I feel you are paying for the “view” but the caravan park up the road had the same view for 1/6 the price. We paid for the double room with balcony and lake view…however feel catfished. Balcony was not as pictured, narrow with no privacy and awkward. Very dark room also. Other guests have expressed the same. No wine glasses or bin bags in the bins which you would expect from a nice hotel. Mini fridge was not working, not stocked and staff made minimal attempt to rectify (we were looking forward to a bottle of bubbles and cheese we had picked up on our travels post engagement with our nice “view”. I had to ask for a wine bucket, no offer to deliver). Parking is horrible (as many have mentioned) however I am guessing this is common. Over $500 Australian per night….. I would expect better…. My wife and I booked the Strandhotel Margaretha as a package holiday through TUI in the UK, we paid a little extra for a front lakeside view room and were not disappointed. The room was spacious, recently refurbished with large comfortable bed and new bathroom with over bath shower, all very clean and fresh. We had booked a dinner, bed and breakfast package and again were very impressed the the amount and quality of the food served. The staff also deserve a mention as we found them all to be extremely friendly and professional, always willing to go the extra and gave good recommendations on the food and where to visit in the local region. There is a large lakeside area opposite the hotel with many beds, stand up paddle boards, rowing boats and inflatables all free to use in the surprisingly warm lake. The only thing I would like to see added to the hotel is air conditioning to the bedrooms as the room did get extremely warm at times. Overall we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and we will be looking at booking again

We stayed three nights at this hotel on our first visit to Salzkammergut. The hotel has a nice location, a short walking distance from the village, and very near the funicular train to go up the mountain and a stop of the boats that cross the lake. Our room was small but had a nice balcony and view to the lake. The breakfast is acceptable (choice and quality) for the price, but the buffet is too small for the number of people. You sometimes have to “queue” to get what you want from the buffet. This is compensated by the large and beautiful terrace with view on the lake where you eat your breakfast. We found the restaurant really good and were surprised diners were only hotel guests as the price quality is very competitive with other places in the village (and the terrace makes the experience nice). The “beach” on the other side of the street was never overcrowded and has some SUPs for the guests. A less positive point is the parking which is too small when the hotel is full. They reimburse if you have to park in the nearby public parking, but we found the parking experience stressing, with guests parking outside the lines or taking two places instead of one for their expensive car. There is a charging station which you can reserve and costs a forfeit of 20 euro for the day.

Très bel hôtel, bien placé, proche du centre et au bord du lac, avec sa plage privée. La chambre, calme, très propre, est joliment décorée. Nous y avons très bien dormi. Le buffet du petit déjeuner est bien garni et très bon. C'est une adresse à retenir !

Das Hotel liegt sehr schön mit Blick auf den See. Der erste Eindruck war okay. Zum Teil renoviert und recht modern, andererseits auch angestaubt und oll. Leider ist das mit den Zimmern genauso. Das erste Zimmer ging gar nicht. Das Zimmer war wohl renoviert, aber die Außenwand war feucht. Der Gipfel war allerdings das Badezimmer… Original 80er mit einer schmalen Badewanne mit Vorhang als Dusche. Geht gar nicht. Also haben wir um ein anderes Zimmer gebeten. Der freundliche junge Mann hat uns zwei weitere Zimmer gezeigt… leider waren diese in dem selben Zustand. Dann zeigte er uns plötzlich ein Zimmer mit einem modernen Bad. Das haben wir dann bezogen. Das Zimmer war sehr geräumig und auch nett eingerichtet. Nun sollte man vielleicht noch über neue Betten nachdenken… das vorhandene war sehr niedlich und sehr durchgelegen. Der Frühstücksraum/ Restaurant war sehr schön und modern eingerichtet. Das Frühstücksbuffet war guter Standard und leider sehr eng aufgebaut. Besonders der Käse wurde so gestapelt, dass man kaum etwas entnehmen konnte ohne das etwas runterfällt. Die Terrasse zum See ist ebenfalls sehr schön. Das gesamt Personal war sehr freundlich und aufmerksam
